IT and Education

IT always has been one of the best ways for education, and to get the best knowledge. Many parents started to teach their children online instead of sending them to school, because they do not beileve that school provides the best education. while others prefered to send their children to school to socialize and communicate with people, and to be more opend up to the world. However, the COMEX this year displays many ways of education that show education through IT can be found in a great way at school, and higher education.

Some of these examples are attending the COMEX. To explain that IT helps through different education levels, the Smart Board is used an many schools nowadays. It is much easier to use than the normal board. The Smart Board is actully a touch screen that is attached to a comouter, and a projector. The Smart Board cannot work if the board, the comuter, and the projector are not attached together. The Smart Board works through a software that is called NoteBook. This software is the most important for the Smart Board, because it allows to use the SmartBoard as a touch screen. This IT invention is very helpful when it comes to education. Teachers can teach a lot of subjects much better than using the normal board. For example, they can save their lessons, draw many different shapes, they can involve motion to the lessons, attach speakers to the Smart Board, etc. The Smart Board is so useful in every level in education, wether it is higher education or other education levels.
Another example of the importance of IT is the Ministry Of Education (MOE). MOE ecently launched the Educational Portal, which allows the person responsibleof a student (father, uncle, etc) to check his or her marks and attendence. Their its aim was to make things easier for all of the employees, the responsible person of a student, and the students themselves. After conducting an interview with an employee in the MOE, Mr. Naser AL Amri, who said: “I disagree with whoever says that IT is not for children, because most of the school students have shown a real understanding to it”. Mr. AL Amri also confirmed that IT is important for everyone by saying: “IT is the language of this age”. Nowadays, many parents prefer to teach their children online at home, however, Mr. AL Amri had an openion on that when he explained: “I prefer for the children to be sent to school that provides IT technologies, because the learning is much more organized at schools than home. Mr. AL Amri also noted that reason they are attending the COMEX this year is to delever the information correctely, clear any misunderstanding, and to convence the community that IT and Education are related together.

There are many other devices, softwares, comapanies, etc, that relate IT to education on display this year. It is a great opprotunity if you have children at home, and you want to find out what is the latest in IT that helps for education. All you have to do is just to come down to the Oman Exhibition Centre and check it out yourself.

web browser

A web browser (commonly referred to as a browser) is a software application for retrieving, presenting and traversing information resources on the World Wide Web. An information resource is identified by a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) and may be a web page, image, video or other piece of content.Hyperlinks present in resources enable users easily to navigate their browsers to related resources. A web browser can also be defined as an application software or program designed to enable users to access, retrieve and view documents and other resources on the Internet.

Although browsers are primarily intended to use the World Wide Web, they can also be used to access information provided by web servers in private networks or files in file systems. The major web browsers are Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera and SafarI.

A network server

A network server is a computer designed to process requests and deliver data to other (client) computers over a local network or the Internet. Network servers typically are configured with additional processing, memory and storage capacity to handle the load of servicing clients. Common types of network servers include:
  • Web servers
  • proxy servers
  • FTP servers
  • online game servers
Numerous systems use this client / server networking model including Web sites and email services. An alternative model, peer-to-peer networking enables all computers to act as either a server or client as needed.

Network topology

Network topology is the arrangement of the various elements (links, nodes, etc.) of a computer or biological network. Essentially, it is the topological structure of a network, and may be depicted physically or logically. Physical topology refers to the placement of the network's various components, including device location and cable installation, while logical topology shows how data flows within a network, regardless of its physical design. Distances between nodes, physical interconnections, transmission rates, and/or signal types may differ between two networks, yet their topologies may be identical.

A good example is a local area network (LAN): Any given node in the LAN has one or more physical links to other devices in the network; graphically mapping these links results in a geometric shape that can be used to describe the physical topology of the network. Conversely, mapping the data flow between the components determines the logical topology of the network.

Mobile and Personalization Technologies Drive Fast Food Chains to the Future

While you're walking down a busy sidewalk to an early meeting when your smartphone dings. A message pops up, noting you haven't stopped for your usual egg sandwich and latte.
A mobile app tells you the nearest Dun-kin' Donuts is three blocks over. Another app brings a coupon for breakfast at a McDonald's around the corner. You decide. With a few taps, you order, specify a pick-up time and pay, never breaking stride.
That evening at your favorite burger chain, you approach a counter-mounted iPad to order. The system recognizes you from identity data radiating from the phone in your pocket and automatically displays only the foods you like. A smiling avatar on the screen welcomes you. Having checked your purchase history and the store's inventory, she makes an offer. "You're due for a reward," she says.

Experience with Information system and technology…

My uncle is Mohammed. He was graduated from Sur University College. His specialist is Information System and Technology. He got excellent grade in bachelor degree. During his study he learned many subjects like computer networking, database management system , system analyses and design and so on... .In last year of his study he worked with his group to make their project. it was about Omani sign language. Their goal was to help deaf people to interactive with normal people without any difficulty, so they work to converting the book that include all the work in to simple system to help the deaf. They use visual basic to make the interface of the system and database to fill the information that they need it like word in English and Arabic , short describe for each and some numbers and also finger spilling. Then they wrote code for each word. It was a perfect project and he got A. Now he is seeking for a job. He just did training in ministry of finance.
He learned how to:
*formatting and install programs
*search the program through the web
* learn how to do hardware maintenance
*learn how to deal with existing programs and used to extract report and statements from the master device….

At the end, information technology is important in our life and we use it in most things like
TV, Mobile, Job, and Microwave, etc.
